So…yesterday Drew was sent out of childcare with a fever. A school friend took him so I could run a lunch meeting I had planned. I found them napping together. So sweet.

Then last night his fever spiked and I couldn’t get it lower than 103. After an ER visit, Drew can now boast his first ever UTI.

Jealous of the little man? Nope.
Did I enjoy watching him get poked and prodded? Definitely not.
But I’m relieved he’s going to be more comfortable soon.

The lesson I receive: sometimes discomfort comes before comfort and relief. And the process to relief is not always fun.

Baseball fun this afternoon. I am still shocked that it is fun.

Baseball fun this afternoon. I am still shocked that it is fun.

What have we been up to lately?

Glad you asked.

We’ve been dancing.

Running.

Eating sweets.

And enjoying baseball.

Piggy-back riding.

Paper writing (last semester of grad school!!!).

And have I mentioned all the sweets we eat?  I’m currently trying to get back on a no sugar diet.  I felt better without my sugar addiction.  Oh, sugar!

Human beings are learning creatures. Babies come out of the womb curious and ready to learn. They immediately begin to explore and learn about their world, without our persuasion. Later, they learn how to walk and talk without being artificially motivated. They don’t take a course. They don’t ‘goof off’ while learning these skills because they’re bored or the ‘work’ is too hard. They are not marked, tested, graded or nagged to practice. They just do it. They are motivated by wanting to do these things well, like bigger people.

#11 Try pad thai

I did it.

It was delicious!

I cannot wait to eat it again.

Sadly, due to another list item (not eating out for three months) this may not happen again anytime soon.

I’m obsessed.  Sadly, I’m absolutely in deep like with these (could it be love? gasp).
